Project #4: Story about a Specific
Deadline: May 10, 2002
Length: 3000 words ± 5%
Object: Write a story about the result from one of our recent
workshop exercises. Option (1) Naming characters to fit specific
types, e.g. Edward Bezzle, a petty, white-collar thief who robs
his boss over several years. Option (2) Describing an abstract
concept with a specific example, e.g. wealth - "I have a whole
closet for my shoes." Option (3) Using a story beginning created
from sentence "Where were you last night?"
Goal of the project: Practicing writing
skills
characterization,
dialogue, plot control. Developing a more complex story from an initial seed,
practicing follow-through with story writing. Continuing practice with pacing,
critiquing, and editing.
